George W. Dunne National Golf Course is local treasure in southern Chicagoland, recognized by Golf Digest as one of the top public courses to play. Located in picturesque Oak Forest, it is a premier 18-hole course for even the most discriminating golfer to enjoy.
Dunne National offers the unexpected for a public course - bent grass fairways and greens, meandering wetlands, lakes, hollows and waterfalls. Eight lakes, situated on eleven of the course’s holes, will keep seasoned golfers on their toes. Add tree lined fairways and an abundance of deer and other wildlife and no golfer is likely to forget the round of golf at Dunne National anytime soon.
Golfers repeatedly comment that they feel like they’ve been removed from civilization, let alone the hustle and bustle of downtown Chicago - which is just 30 minutes away. Throughout the entire 18 holes not a building or house is in view, only the best of Mother Nature and the green grass of the golf course. Not surprising since George W. Dunne National Golf Course is certified as Cooperative Sanctuary by Audubon International. The course and its staff are committed to protecting the local environment, conserving natural resources, and providing wildlife habitats.
Dunne National is historic and challenging course with epic holes that will test any golfer’s game and club selection. Perfect for the more advanced player, its generous tree lined fairways, well-kept tee boxes and very sophisticated greens make this course one not to miss.
Several tee shots play over water, including numbers 17 and 18 for a really great way to finish the round. An abundance of sand can make approach shots a little on the intimidating side, especially when combined with strategic (some might say “sucker”) pin placements throughout the course. Plenty of regulars and locals encourage everyone to look for the fat part of the green!
All carts at Dunne National have GPS - a great feature since it can be difficult to see the landing areas of the greens when surrounded by bunkers. Once you ride in a GPS-equipped cart, it’s tough to go back.
In addition to the course, Dunne National features a lighted driving range, an on-staff PGA professional, and a new patio for a refreshing drink after the round. There’s no excuse not to spend time at Dunne to practice and improve your game.
Golfers with disabilities are welcome at Dunne National. The course will make reasonable accommodations to ensure that golfers with disabilities are able to enjoy a round.
Residents of Oak Forest and the surrounding community can join one of the leagues for men, women, and seniors. No matter what your age or level of golfing ability, you'll receive a warm welcome!
Golfers over 55 years of age enjoy senior specials, including 18 holes with cart. Senior golfers will always receive the lowest publicly available rate, which may be lower than these special prices.
Dunne National also participates in Women on Course which is a national membership and event program presented by Billy Casper Golf. For both new and seasoned players, Women on Course offers a recreational opportunity to build friendships and enjoy the business & social benefits of golf. Dunne National is one of over 200 courses in the country proud to host WOC events, including clinics to improve your game, on-course play and social gatherings for pure fun!
